Reduce Stress

Depression, anxiety, stress and anger are all negative feelings that have an adverse effect on your health. These thoughts increase your body’s sensitivity to pain. Take control of your stress and anxiety to ease your pain.

Several techniques like listening to relaxing music, mental imagery and progressive muscle relaxation can help lift your mood and reduce stress.

Exercise Regularly

Exercising regularly is a great habit as it keeps many health problems at bay. It also releases endorphins, which are brain chemicals that improve your mood and also help block pain. Not to mention, exercise also tones your body and keeps blood sugar levels in control. Reducing the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and weight problems are only few of the many health benefits of exercising regularly.

Avoid Drinking and Smoking

It’s difficult to sleep when you’re in pain and alcohol only worsens the problem. Sleep is important to keep you in high spirits and your health in good form. As someone who suffers from chronic pain, try drinking less to improve your sleeping habit. Smoking also disrupts the blood flow and worsens pain. Avoid reduced blood circulation by avoiding smoking!

Maintain a Daily Log of the Pain

Try keeping a journal in which you record levels of pain and what you do to manage pain on a certain day. This can help you develop an understanding of coping mechanisms that work better for you. This’ll also help your doctor who can then treat your chronic pain better. It’s important to log regularly and consistently so that proper insights can be drawn from it.

Find a Support Group

Knowing you aren’t alone in battling chronic pain can be a helpful reminder. Find more people like yourself who’ve similar problems and engage with them. Not only will this put you in a better mood, it’ll also give you psychological relief. And who knows, you might find out about new coping mechanisms as well!

I thought I was going to have to deal with plantar fasciitis for the rest of my life. I had done all the recommended steps from orthotics, icing, stretching, massage…nothing worked. I saw Jason. Here is what I say about my shock treatments. I have had chronic back pain for over 40 years. Nothing has worked for me and I have tried many, many types of back treatments. Nothing worked. I was going to go for laser spine surgery. Divergent was going to be my last “try” before laser surgery. I went in with absolutely NO expectations.
